The myth of Krampus can be traced back to Christian mitology, in particular to Saint Nichoas, who after defeating this demon, made it its servant. These two are said to come on December 5th’s night, to either reward or punish nice and naughty kids.
During the end of November to the beginning of December, a number of parades, where hundreds of these demonic creatures haunt the streets scaring the visitors are organized in the Alpine regions of Slovenia, Austria, Germany and Italy.
