The three Thursdays preceding Christmas see the advent of peculiar characters called Klöckeln to the towns of Sarentino and Scaleres; these little groups of people, secretly organized, knock on doors to find food and a place to spend the night.
This tradition has links to the celebration of winter solstice and to Germanic rythes of fertility. Dressed and masked in eccentric ways, Klöckeln move through the streets dancing and singing their ancient tune.
