Aielli is a town located in the Italian region of Abruzzo, it stands on a rock spur which gave the village, during the roman and medieval era, a predilect spot to defend and observe the territory.
Although the fortunate location provides the village of a spectacular view over the lands and the sky above, this part of Italy has always been known for its seismic activity, which over the course of the years ruined and demolished many cities and villages, including Aielli; making it challenging to think of a sustainable, livable future.
Nevertheless, will power is sometimes stronger than the adversities; and the town of Aielli comes as the perfect example: from 2017 Aielli hosts the project “Borgo Universo”. Inviting artists from all over the world to create murals and street art, the town finds a breath of fresh air, a new start; hence, a will to live.
